Review of Barely Breathing by Rebecca Donovan

Blurb:
Emma’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe. Now everyone in Weslyn knows Emma’s secret, but Carol can’t hurt Emma anymore. Some are still haunted by the horror of that night, and some must face the repercussions of their choices. Fans of Rebecca Donovan’s debut novel will discover there’s still much to learn about Emma’s life.

Well, when I learned that there was a 2nd book after Reason To Breath, the first thing that came to my mind was: "Seriously Rebecca??? Milking the goat much? What would you write about? Emma's and Evan's happily ever after?”. But Now, I totally take it back. If it's even possible, Barely Breathing is even more awesome and splendid.

In this book, we get to see how Emma's life becomes after coming back from the land of dead. And how her mother's showing back up in her life would affect it, in addition to other new characters. But still, some things never change. Like her continuous struggle to make it through her bumpy life, Evan's constant love and support, and Sara's ultimate devotion and spontaneity (You'll get the meaning in the book!! ;) ). Enjoyed every piece of this book, from the drama to the epic romance and the funniest scenes. And well, I have something to confess now. I'M FREAKING OBSSESSED WITH EVAN. Seriously, could there be any one dreamier and perfect and adorable and loyal ........................*the list goes on forever*........................... as Evan??? I think not. And the new thing in Barely Breathing that made me like it even more was the occasional horror element. Because believe me, her nightmares literally gave me nightmares myself. Especially with Rebecca's amazing writing skills. You never even realize that it's a dream until long after you get scared out of our mind XD

And man, was I devastated when I got to the end. I had been reading the book thinking that it was the last one in the series. And while I was waiting for the Happily Ever After to unfold, I was struck with the biggest surprise of my life: There was the deadliest cliffhanger waiting for me at the end and apparently there's still a 3rd and final book in the series. And as much as I don't want to say goodbye to Evan and Emma, I have no idea how I'm supposed to last until Out Of Breath comes out!!! :( Please be out soon <3

Review of Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

Blurb:
"No one tried to get involved with me, and I kept to myself. This was the place where everything was supposed to be safe and easy. How could Evan Mathews unravel my constant universe in just one day?"

He knows there’s something more to the girl sitting in the back of the class the moment he sees her. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and athletic – but she slips quietly through the crowded halls, trying not to exist. Determined to get to know the elusive girl, Evan soon discovers…

Emma Thomas is hiding a terrible secret.

Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope.

EPIC!!!!! Yes that's the word I'm describing this book with. Because with no suspect, it's one of the most epic contemporary books I had the pleasure to read so far. Rebecca Donovan absolutely outdid herself with this masterpiece. And now I'm starting to regret why I didn't vote for her on Goodreads Choise Awards, but to my defense it had been pretty hot in that category.

So back to Reason To Breath, trying to describe this book in a few words is obviously futile because no amount of words can do it justice. But I shall try ;) And with that I start with saying that if you're looking for a good drama, a cheesy love story, and juicy characters that will stay with you long after the story ends... well you've got it right here. Loved how Emma struggled persistently to reach her goal without ever giving up, because if I had been in her place I would have run away a long time ago with no care for anything else in the world. And then there's the relationship between Emma and Sara, now THAT's what I call real friendship.  Then there's the perfect harmony Rebecca created for this piece to go alone with, man it was such a beautiful one. The way it goes from the cute peaceful and romantic times to the horrible and heartbreaking tear-jerking experiences back and forth definitely created a nicely woven rhythm that would keep you sitting on the edge of your chair the whole way along until the very end where you simply... stop "Breathing".

This was definitely a book I would recommend to everyone who would love an unforgettable story that will stay with you long after the book ends. Now, to the next book before I stop breathing. That end is KILLING me!!!

My rant about "Love Triangles"

Ok, I'm so fed up with this bullshit. Authors should really stop this nonsense!!! All this love-triangles and then killing off the third-wheel so the hero and the heroine live happily-ever-after is getting old and FREAKING IRRITATING!!!

I mean seriously, if you're going to make us love them and root for them only to kill them off at the end?? Then why don't you just knock off the triangle-shit and let them live. Ren from Nightshade series, Cal from Hex Hall series, there's a good chance it will be the same with Cassian in Firelight series, and Cassie Clare already said someone would die in Clockwork Princess so we just have to wait for March to know who's the lucky boy who get a ticket to the gallows.

And now I just can't take it anymore!!! It feels like I'm waiting for my execution or something. I know it sounds nerdy but I feel like they're killing off real people, and for all it's worth. It is!!!! We get to know them and live their lives and understand their motives and feel what they feel. Usually through 3 books, which means we live with them 3 freaking years only to have them killed as collateral damage. Seriously, WTH!!!

Sure love triangles add a spicier flavor to the romance and spikes the plot quite a few notches, but if this keeps up we’ll end up hating all books with this theme. You think I get happy when I see people trashing Nightshade series, of course not. But on the other hand, they have every right to.

Am I the only one with this problem, or do you agree with me guys??

Review of The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

Blurb:
Don't look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase's unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he'd dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister's world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

Ooooooooookay, first of all I wanna thank Harquelin for giving up and providing me of this E-ARC after my third rime requesting it on NetGalley (Yeah I'm quite persistent ;) ). After reading Iron's Prophecy I was freaking out of my mind, wanting to know what happens after, especially with all those hints and prophecies. So here I am, reading The Lost Prince after such a long wait.

The Lost Prince is the first book in the spin-off series to Iron Fey named Call Of The Forgotten. It's the story of Ethan, Meghan Chace's little brother thirteen years after the events of The Iron Knight. Here we get to see how little cute Ethan grew up and how the surrounding circumstances made him the boy he is now and gives the start to his journey into the world he spent his whole life running from, along with a very beautiful, very popular, and VERY stubborn girl from the school who turns out to be more than the queen-bee type later ;) Here in this incredible journey we get to meet old dear characters, new interesting ones, and ones who had changed entirely since the last book we've read.

Like always, Julie Kagawa outdid herself yet another time and gave us such an incredible piece to read. God, I didn't think she could ever write something as good as her first series but obviously I was mistaken as was proved in Blood Of Eden and Call Of The Forgotten series. Though Iron Fey is still my absolute fav, nothing beats the awesomeness of my dear beloved Ash and the infamous Puck. Ahhhh, good times good times :)

And man, I wish I could talk more about the plot, or at least the characters but sadly I can't put in here anything spoily so I'll just have to tell you to be a little bit more patient (as hard as it is) and see what I'm talking about yourselves ;) LITTLE THAN A MONTH AWAY NOW!!! YAY!!
